Trend Seeker EA

The FX AlgoTrader Trend Seeker Expert Advisor is an algorithmic trading system designed to automatically identify and exploit medium term trends in forex pairs.

This forex trading system is based on technical indicators including moving averages and intraday forex pivots. The system uses a trailing stop strategy to stay in the trade for as long as possible. This system does not produce large numbers of trades which reduces broker transaction fees significantly.

Forex traders have the opportunity to back test the system for optimization purposes for the currency pairs of their choice as the Trend Seeker automated trading system provides configurable external input parameters which are:-

  • Stop Loss
  • Trend Timeframe eg Daily, Weekly etc1
  • Trend Moving Average Period
  • Trend Window
  • Entry Trigger points

Summary:

The average profit was 2.75 times the average loss which allows the system to produce a positive result over the test period even though the long/short hit rate is relatively low at 35.62% and 32.94% respectively. The maximum drawdown was 17.81% which is well within acceptable paramaters (below 20%)

It is possible to produce larger profits by increasing leverage (position sizing) but this creates more agressive drawdowns and in turn increases the risk of model failure in the early stages.

The initial deposit on account was $5000 and the system returned $10719 USD in the test period thus delivering a theoretical ROI of 214.38% or roughly 71% per annum.

The system underwent basic optimization over the test period. We would strongly recommend tuning and backtesting the system to suit individual trading requirements and risk profiles. The system has not been forward tested on live market data at present.
