FX AlgoTrader Indicator and EA Installation Guide - FireFox Version

Please Note: The installation guide is generic. The installation process is exactly the same for all FX AlgoTrader products so please do not be put off if the product referred to in the guide does not match the product you are trying to install.

Step 1. VERY IMPORTANT - CLOSE METATRADER!

Step 2. Download the data sheet for your product. They are in the right hand column of the table on the download page. (screenshot below). The data sheet will help you configure the product after installation. Now double click the 'Setup.exe' icon on the download page. (screenshot below)

Step 3. You will see a pop up box asking you if you want to 'Save' the file or 'Cancel'. Click "Save"

Step 4. You will see the download window in Firefox confirming the download has completed.

Step 5. Double click the highlighted download file as shown in the screenshot above. You may get a warning asking you if you want to open an executable file. Click "OK"

Step6. The installer will now launch click "Next"

Step 7. This is the most important step of the installation – you must tell the installer where the MT4 installation is on your computer. It is always in your ‘Program Files’ folder which is directly under your main hard drive letter eg ' C:\Program Files'.  The name of your Metatrader installation folder will depend on which broker you use.  Eg. ODL Securities install Metatrader in a folder called “ODL Metatrader 4”. If you use Alpari look for a folder called "Alpari - US(UK)- Metatrader 4" in the Program Files folder. Most FX brokers prefix the Metatrader installation with their name so start by looking for your broker's name if you're not sure . For an alternative way to find your MT4 path information please see Appendix A

Step 8. Click "Browse" and navigate to your Metatrader folder. Hint: Find your "Program Files" folder first and then click on the This will open up all the sub folders and files in your ‘Program Files’ folder.icon next to "Program Files".

Step 9. Find YOUR MT4 folder, select it and click "OK". Do not enter "ODL Metatrader 4 #2" unless you happen to have exactly the same file path. This is very unlikely! You must use YOUR MT4 file path!

Step 10. Check the path data is the correct. If the path has '/indicators' or '/expert advisors' on the end DELETE IT and only leave the top level folder. Then click “Next”

Step 11. The installer will ask you if you want to install the program in your MT4 folder – click “Yes”

Step 12. The 'Ready to Install' screen is displayed. Click "Install"

Step 12. Click “Finish” to complete the installation. The installer will auto load Metatrader with the indicators/EAs automatially loaded on a EURUSD hourly chart using a default FX AlgoTrader template. If Metatrader does not automatically restart after the installer finishes it means you have used an incorrect installation folder. Go back and check the path information in Step 10 is correct.

Appendix A. File Path Identification Method

An alternative way to find the path information for your MT4 program is to right click on the desktop icon as shown in the screenshot below

Then click properties



Now Right click in the target box and copy the path.

Then paste it into the installer (press CTRL + V) and remove the "terminal.exe" string from the end. (Terminal.exe is the main executable file for MT4)
